Hamas Spokesman Delivers Fiery Speech Amid Ceasefire Negotiations

In a speech on Sunday, Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Hamas’s military wing, delivered a strong message amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Israel. Hamas is awaiting Israel’s response to a ceasefire proposal, with reports indicating that they have reduced key demands to encourage continued dialogue aimed at securing the release of hostages. The discussions, facilitated by Egyptian officials, are set to continue with an Israeli delegation expected to arrive in Cairo.
Nine months into the conflict, Abu Obeida asserted that Hamas’s “resistance” remains strong, despite Israel’s capture of the Rafah crossing, a crucial smuggling route for weapons and supplies to Gaza. He praised the al-Qassam fighters for their improved capabilities and claimed the group has recruited thousands of new operatives. Abu Obeida also expressed gratitude to Iran-backed groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq for their attacks against Israel since Hamas’s incursion on October 7.
