Survivor’s Account of Kyiv Missile Strike
In a harrowing account from Kyiv, London-based fashion stylist Eka Grbich narrowly survived a devastating Russian missile strike on the Adonis maternity clinic. The attack, part of a broader assault on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, resulted in significant casualties, including the deaths of clinic staff and patients. Grbich, who was awaiting a doctor’s appointment, described the sudden chaos as the missile hit, causing destruction and fatalities around her. The strike was part of one of the most deadly assaults since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, leaving 44 dead and nearly 200 injured. The international community, including leaders like Joe Biden and Keir Starmer, condemned the brutality of the attacks, which also targeted a children’s hospital. Despite the devastation, Ukrainian resilience and solidarity were evident as volunteers aided in rescue and cleanup efforts. Grbich, reflecting on her experience, chose to embrace love over hate, even amid the trauma and loss.
