Manipur on the Mend after Cyclone Remal Havoc: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Spearheads Restoration Efforts

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced ongoing efforts to restore normalcy in the state following the devastation caused by Cyclone Remal. The cyclone, which hit between West Bengal’s Sagar Island and Bangladesh’s Khepupara on May 26, resulted in widespread destruction and fatalities across Bengal, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, and Meghalaya. In Manipur, heavy rainfall led to flooding, especially in the capital, Imphal. Rescue operations are being carried out by local authorities, the NDRF, the Indian Army, and the Assam Rifles to assist those affected.
Chief Minister Singh specifically mentioned the efforts of the Manipur Fire Service to clear obstructions and restore the flow of the Naga River at North AOC Imphal. Through a social media post, he highlighted the ongoing work to remove floodwater and clean waterlogged areas. Singh also expressed his appreciation for the officials from the Minor Irrigation and Water Resources Department and the Imphal East police personnel for their role in alleviating the flood situation and assisting flood-affected families. Praising the bravery and dedication of the Manipur Fire Service team, he acknowledged their round-the-clock efforts under challenging conditions to aid in the state’s recovery from the cyclone’s impacts.
