School Board Approves Expansion of Sheriff Training Program>
The school board has approved the expansion of the Sheriff Training On Site Marshall Program (STOMP) to include qualifying district personnel. Employees not assigned to classrooms can volunteer for this training. Accepted participants will be vetted before training and will only have authority to act during active assailant situations on Brevard Schools property. The STOMP program, run by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, was established after the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and manages school resource officers and security specialists. Training is expected to commence in July.
