Civilians Suffer Casualties in Attacks by Insurgents and PDF Terrorists

**Deadly Attacks by Armed Insurgents Leave Civilians Dead and Injured in Myanmar**
Naypyitaw, June 1, 2024 – A series of violent attacks orchestrated by insurgent groups and so-called PDF terrorists across various states and regions in Myanmar have resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives and numerous injuries. These insurgent groups, accused of supporting terrorism, have been intensively targeting non-military areas, employing tactics such as detonating public infrastructure, utilizing heavy weaponry, and deploying drones to drop bombs on residential areas.
On the evening of May 28, 2024, in Bhamo Township, Kachin State, a devastating attack by KIA insurgents and KPDF terrorists using heavy weapons struck Kone Ma Hat Village. The attack resulted in severe injuries to three village residents—U Ba Tun, 78, Ko Min Htut, 22, and Daw Tin Shi, 47—caused by shrapnel from an exploded shell. The injured were immediately rushed to Bhamo Township Public Hospital for urgent medical attention.
In a separate incident on the same night, Oak Shik Khin (West) Village in Phyu Township, Bago Region, became the target of a remorseless drone bombing attack by members of the KNU and PDF terrorists. The bombs, dropped from drones, claimed the life of 18-year-old Ma Ei Ei Soe and inflicted injuries on five other villagers, including a four-year-old child. The injured survivors were transported to Phyu Township Public Hospital for medical treatment.
In response to these heinous acts, security forces are intensifying their efforts to conduct thorough investigations aimed at bringing the perpetrators to justice. Additionally, measures are being taken to enhance security and restore peace and stability in the affected areas, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens from terrorism and violence.
The continuous threat posed by these insurgent groups underscores the critical need for concerted efforts to address the root causes of terrorism and violence in Myanmar. The international community watches closely as the country grapples with these challenges, hoping for a peaceful resolution that safeguards the lives and rights of all its citizens.
