**Cyclonic Storm Remal Expected to Hit Bangladesh Coastal Regions**
The State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Md Mohibur Rahman, announced that Cyclonic Storm Remal is anticipated to hit the coastal areas of Satkhira in Khulna and Cox’s Bazar in Chattogram by Sunday evening. In preparation, nearly 4,000 shelter centers have been set up across the coastal districts, fully stocked with dry food supplies, as revealed in a press briefing at the Secretariat.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department is considering issuing a great danger signal number 10, expected between midnight Saturday and 1:00 am Sunday. Currently, maritime ports have been advised to maintain local cautionary signal no 1, with an escalation to signal no 3 predicted within a few hours.
To confront the imminent threat, 80,000 volunteers have been mobilized, ensuring all necessary measures are in place. Mohibur Rahman highlighted the potential severe impacts of the cyclone, including a 7-10 feet high tidal surge, heavy rainfall, and the risk of landslides in the hilly regions of Chattogram, particularly affecting Satkhira and Cox’s Bazar.
