Earthquake Near Tokyo: 4.6 Magnitude Tremor Felt Across Multiple Prefectures
A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 occurred near Tokyo, jolting several prefectures in the early hours of Sunday, according to Arab News Japan. The seismic event took place at 00:50 AM, with its epicenter located 70 kilometers deep in Southern Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported a seismic intensity of 3 on the Japanese scale in affected areas, including Saitama, Tochigi, Gunma, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Chiba, and Fukushima Prefectures. Despite the tremors that caused buildings in Tokyo to sway, there was no tsunami threat and no immediate reports of damage emerged. Additionally, the agency noted that four smaller earthquakes had also occurred across Japan on the preceding Saturday.
