Geneva Announces Finalists for City Police Chief Position
Geneva’s City Manager, Amie Hendrix, has revealed the three finalists for the city’s police chief role, a vacancy created by Matt Colton’s resignation earlier this year. The candidates are set to participate in a community forum at City Hall on May 29, providing an opportunity for public interaction and questions.
The finalists include City Police Lt. Ron Eveland, who stepped in as interim chief after Colton’s departure and has been with the Geneva police since 2015. James “Jimmer” McCormack, a retired New York state trooper with 30 years of service, and James Chechak, the current chief of the Waterloo Police Department with over 16 years in law enforcement, are also in the running. The forum aims to foster community engagement in the selection process and will be available for live viewing on the city’s YouTube page.
