HID Collaborates with Smart Spaces and Cohesion to Introduce Mobile Credentials in Google Wallet for Enhanced Access and Security
HID has partnered with Smart Spaces and Cohesion to launch mobile credentials in Google Wallet, making it easier for users to access buildings, spaces, and systems through their Android devices. Known for its reliable identity solutions, HID, along with Smart Spaces and Cohesion’s expertise in smart building software, aims to provide a seamless access experience to employees, tenants, and guests using their Android phones.
This innovation not only offers convenience but also aims to improve security in access credentialing. Leveraging Android devices’ inherent privacy and security features, the mobile credentials work seamlessly with Signo and iCLASS SE readers, compatible with Google Wallet. This enables users to securely access doors, elevators, or printers by simply bringing their Android device close to a reader.
The introduction of mobile credentials in Google Wallet allows users to navigate through turnstiles, elevators, specific building floors, and even computer and printer networks effortlessly. Sanjit Bardhan, VP of Mobile at HID, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the convenience and security it brings to Android phone users.
Dan Drogman, CEO of Smart Spaces, and Thru Shivakumar, CEO of Cohesion, both shared their enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the seamless and secure access it provides to users. This feature not only enhances user experience but also offers a cost-effective solution for organizations, allowing for remote distribution of company badges, thus reducing the costs associated with physical cards and administrative tasks.
The setup process is designed to be simple and quick, with features like remote enrollment, direct delivery to Google Wallet on an individual’s Android phone, and the ability to remotely remove credentials if necessary.
Initially available in Austria, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, this collaboration between HID, Smart Spaces, and Cohesion marks a step towards creating smarter, more secure, and efficient spaces.
