Cross-Border Rescue Drills Initiated by Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macau
Members of the Security Bureau and Fire Services Department from Hong Kong are taking part in the inaugural Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau cross-border rescue drills in Jiangmen city. The 48-hour exercise aims to enhance emergency rescue capabilities across the three regions. Hong Kong’s teams made their way to the Jiangmen Special Service Fire Station for the drills, facilitated by a “cross-boundary green lane” for swift customs clearance through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. This marks the first instance of Hong Kong fire engines participating in such mainland exercises, underscoring a significant integration of fire and rescue operations among the three areas. The drills contribute to an operational plan aimed at bolstering emergency response to accidents and disasters in the Greater Bay Area. Authorities from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau are finalizing this plan, with expectations to sign related agreements in mid-June, enhancing emergency rescue capabilities and promoting a high standard of emergency response management across the regions.
