Bomb Hoaxes and Death Threats Under Investigation in British Caribbean Islands

In recent developments, counterterrorism police and the FBI are investigating a series of bomb hoaxes and death threats directed at officials on British Caribbean islands. An anonymous group has claimed responsibility for these threats, which have been linked to the detention of five American tourists on gun charges in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The group has threatened to “start assassinating government officials” if their demands are not met.
The Americans, who were found with ammunition in their luggage, could face up to 12 years in prison. One of the tourists, Bryan Hagerich, has already returned to Pennsylvania after receiving a suspended sentence due to diplomatic pressure. The tourists maintain that the ammunition was inadvertently left in their luggage.
The terror campaign began in early May, with bomb threats affecting airports across several British overseas territories, including Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, and Anguilla. The group has warned of a “second phase” of terror actions this month if their demands are not met.
Despite the threats, British officials believe the campaign is a “malicious hoax” and are working with US and UK authorities, including the FBI, to trace the source and strengthen emergency protocols. The Bermudan government has not informed residents about the death threats or their connection to the arrested Americans. The Foreign Office has declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
