Hezbollah Member Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Southern Lebanon, Civilians Injured
A Hezbollah member was killed and three civilians were injured in an Israeli airstrike on the village of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources. The Israeli military conducted a series of airstrikes, with drones targeting four villages and towns in southwest Lebanon and airplanes launching six raids in the border region’s eastern and central areas. In retaliation, Hezbollah claimed to have attacked several Israeli sites. This escalation in violence follows a surge in tensions on the Lebanon-Israel border that began on October 8, 2023, after Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel in support of a Hamas attack the previous day. Israel responded with heavy artillery fire towards southeastern Lebanon. The recent clashes have resulted in 479 deaths on the Lebanese side, including 303 Hezbollah members and 89 civilians, as reported by Lebanese security sources.
