ITV Commissions Tom Bradby’s Espionage Drama “Secret Service”

ITV has greenlit a new espionage drama series titled “Secret Service,” which is an adaptation of a novel by ITV News anchor Tom Bradby. Bradby, along with screenwriter Jemma Kennedy, will write this five-part series set to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX. The drama centers around Kate Henderson, a senior MI6 officer who leads a double life. By day, she’s a civil servant with a seemingly ordinary life, but her true role involves heading the Russia Desk of the Secret Intelligence Service. The plot thickens as Henderson discovers evidence suggesting a senior UK politician might be a high-level Russian asset, kicking off a high-stakes investigation to uncover their identity.
Tom Bradby expressed his excitement about the adaptation, highlighting the topicality of the themes addressed in his novel, which he believes have only become more relevant over time. Production of the series is slated to begin in early next year in London and Malta, with Potboiler Productions producing the series in collaboration with All3Media International, which will manage international distribution.
