Tom Bradby’s Secret Service Thriller Set for ITV Premiere

ITV is set to bring a new espionage drama, “Secret Service,” to the screen, created by its own News anchor Tom Bradby. Based on Bradby’s novel, the series delves into the intricate tensions between Russia and the UK, crafting a narrative deeply embedded in the current political climate. The storyline follows a senior MI6 officer who leads the Russia Desk of the Secret Intelligence Service under the guise of a civil service job. Amidst her undercover operations, she discovers evidence suggesting a senior UK politician might be a high-ranking Russian asset, alongside the brutal murder of a young woman, propelling her into a race against time to unravel their identity.
“Secret Service” is set against the backdrop of London and various European locations, with filming slated to start in London and Malta early next year. Bradby has teamed up with screenwriter Jemma Kennedy to pen this five-part series, which will premiere on ITV1 and be available for streaming on ITVX. The drama raises poignant questions about the extent of Russian interference in British politics, commissioned by ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill and senior drama commissioner, Helen Ziegler, who will also oversee its production.
Produced by Potboiler Productions in association with All3Media International—which will manage the international distribution—the series promises a timely exploration of the geopolitical chess game between East and West. Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood are set to executive produce, underscoring the high expectations surrounding the project. With Bradby’s and Kennedy’s scripts described as thrilling and timely, “Secret Service” is poised to offer a captivating look into the world of espionage and international intrigue.
