LEAP Scholars Aid Air War College on Korean and Vietnam War Course
In early 2024, senior Air Force leaders participated in a Regional Security Studies (RSS) course that explored the Korean and Vietnam wars directly from the battlefields in South Korea and Vietnam. Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP) Scholars, Lt. Col. Paul Kim and Maj. Quan Tonthat, played crucial roles by providing language, cultural, and logistical support throughout the trip. The scholars helped navigate challenges such as interacting with local staff and understanding cultural contexts, enriching the overall learning experience. The course aimed to prepare leaders to assess political, military, economic, cultural, and security issues relevant to U.S. national security strategy. The participants visited significant historical sites, gaining firsthand insights into the impacts of air power during these conflicts. The assistance from LEAP Scholars was highly praised by course organizers and participants alike.
