Leominster receives state disaster relief after September flooding

State Disaster Relief Funds Distributed to Impacted Communities

Summary:

In response to severe flooding and weather last September, the Healey-Driscoll Administration has allocated nearly $5 million in state disaster relief funding to 13 communities in Massachusetts. This funding is part of the remaining $15 million disaster relief package approved by Governor Maura Healey in December 2023. Leominster, one of the affected communities, received $3.6 million for infrastructure repairs. Governor Healey successfully secured federal disaster aid for residents and businesses in Bristol and Worcester counties but could not obtain Public Assistance for state agencies and municipalities in Hampden and Worcester counties. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has set up a webpage to provide information on federal assistance. Other towns receiving funds include Sterling, North Attleboro, Chicopee, Springfield, and others.
