Carson Hocevar Rallies Support for Tornado-Hit Portage with Fundraiser Event
NASCAR Driver Carson Hocevar Rallies Support for Tornado-Hit Hometown
Portage, a city native to NASCAR driver Carson Hocevar, was struck by a tornado on May 7. Although Hocevar was not in the city during the disaster, he remained closely connected, checking on his family’s safety through a call with his mother during the storm. The tornado caused damage to various parts of Portage, including the area where Hocevar’s father’s business, a memorabilia, jewelry, and coin shop, is located.
In response to the destruction, Hocevar is spearheading a fundraising event organized by Zeigler Auto Group to aid those affected by the tornado. The event is scheduled for June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Zeigler Motorsports. Aaron Zeigler, President of Zeigler Auto Group, emphasized the importance of community support, noting that while only 1% of the community was directly impacted by the tornado, the effects are life-changing for those affected.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, which is leading efforts to assist community members facing tornado damages not covered by insurance. The event will offer tickets at $100, with a VIP option at $200 that includes a meet-and-greet with Hocevar. Attendees can look forward to a dinner and a silent auction, featuring items such as 2 VIP tickets to a race at Michigan’s International Speedway, where winners will also have the opportunity to meet Hocevar.
Tickets for the relief event are available for purchase at Zeigler.com. The initiative reflects Hocevar’s and the community’s determination to support those in need, highlighting the spirit of solidarity in the face of adversity.
