New Maritime Cyber Security Body Launched
Summary:
A new body named the International Maritime Cyber Security Organisation (IMCSO) has been launched to enhance cyber security in the maritime sector. IMCSO will validate and standardize cyber security reports, making them accessible to relevant authorities and third parties. The organization has introduced a certification program for security consultants and created a professional register to help maritime organizations hire qualified staff. It will also maintain an authorized registry of approved maritime cyber security suppliers, detailing their individual qualifications. IMCSO aims to track cyber risk trends through a standardized data collection system, providing valuable insights to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), shipbuilders, insurers, and management companies. Chief Executive Officer Campbell Murray emphasized that the IMO mandates shipping companies to implement and regularly audit cyber security measures.
