Delaware Escapes Tornado Amidst Severe Storms
Severe storms swept through Delaware on Wednesday night, causing flooding and high winds but no confirmed tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Meteorologist Amanda Lee reported minimal damage, with some small trees downed near Chambersville due to strong winds. Despite a tornado warning issued just before 8:40 p.m. and a post from the Delaware Emergency Management Agency about a potential twister moving northeast at 20 miles per hour, there were no reports of an actual tornado. Local emergency management also confirmed the lack of tornado sightings. Additionally, a flash flood warning was issued around midnight for parts of New Castle County, expiring at 3:15 a.m. The weather forecast for Delaware predicts hot and humid conditions, with temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s and a possibility of severe weather, including heavy thunderstorms and localized damaging winds, later in the day.
