New Tropical Depression May Form in Gulf After Alberto
Summary:
A new tropical depression, designated Invest 93L, is forming in the Gulf of Mexico, trailing behind Tropical Storm Alberto. This system is projected to bring heavy rain to northeastern Mexico, but its impact on Texas will be less severe than Alberto’s. The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring this low-pressure area, which could develop into a tropical depression or storm. The next names on the storm list are Beryl and Chris. Unlike Alberto, which caused significant rainfall and storm surge across a vast area, the upcoming system is smaller and expected to affect fewer regions. Texas may experience limited rainfall, mainly in the Rio Grande Valley, while eastern Mexico could see an additional 4 to 8 inches of rain, raising concerns about flooding and mudslides. Coastal Texas will face choppy seas and rip currents, but water levels are not expected to rise significantly.
