Russian Nationals Linked to Isis Arrested in US for Alleged Terror Plot
Six Russian nationals with links to ISIS have been arrested in New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia for allegedly planning an attack similar to the Boston Marathon bombing. The individuals, originally from Tajikistan, were apprehended following a large-scale operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in coordination with the FBI and local law enforcement. The plot was uncovered through a wiretap that revealed discussions about bombings. One of the suspects had previously been released by federal authorities with a court date scheduled for 2025.
The arrests come amid heightened concerns over potential terrorist attacks in the US. FBI Director Chris Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland have both emphasized the increased threat level since October 7, citing recent terrorist activities, including an ISIS attack on a concert hall in Moscow. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are working diligently to identify and disrupt potential threats to national security.
