In response to an alleged assault on a minority woman in Cooch Behar, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized the West Bengal government, deeming attacks on women “unacceptable” and questioning the state’s resort to violence post-Lok Sabha elections. He noted that such incidents are not seen elsewhere in India following the elections. Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has set up a seven-member team to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, West Bengal Police reported that three suspects have been arrested and warned against spreading false information, emphasizing that the incident is a family matter not linked to communal or political issues. The BJP’s fact-finding team on post-poll violence in Bengal has submitted its report to BJP President JP Nadda, highlighting widespread violence against BJP workers post-elections.
