Violent Clash at Brooklyn Museum Anti-Israel Protest Leads to Arrests

**Violence Erupts at Anti-Israel Protest Near Brooklyn Museum**
In Brooklyn, near the prominent Brooklyn Museum, an anti-Israel demonstration escalated into violence, leading to the arrest of nearly two dozen individuals on Friday. The protest, drawing around 1,000 participants, was marred by clashes with law enforcement and acts of civil disobedience, amid strong displays of anti-Israel sentiment.
Alvin Dan, a 32-year-old repeat protester from Staten Island, was among the 22 arrested, facing multiple charges including assault and resisting arrest. His history of activism was highlighted by prior arrests at major events, underscoring his anti-Israel and pro-Hamas stance.
The protest saw demonstrators employing dramatic tactics, including scaling the museum’s facade and establishing an encampment inside, to voice their demand for the institution to divest from any investments tied to Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Outside, the protest turned confrontational with reports of vandalism, including graffiti on the museum’s iconic “OY/YO” sculpture.
A particularly disturbing incident involved a pro-Israel motorcyclist being violently attacked by protesters, an act caught on film and widely circulated on social media, showcasing the extreme animosity present.
Organized by the anti-Israel group “Within Our Lifetime,” the demonstration aimed to draw attention to the Palestinian cause, demanding change from institutions perceived as supporting Israel. The police response, tasked with managing the volatile situation, underscores the challenges of maintaining order during such highly charged events.
