Recent Violence Targets Political Offices in Naihati and Bhatpara

In a recent outbreak of violence in West Bengal, allegations have emerged of bombings at and near political party offices following the conclusion of the seven-phase polling process. Late Saturday night, an explosive device was reportedly detonated in front of the Trinamool Congress office in Naihati, North 24 Parganas. Ranjan Karmakar, a local councilor, has accused opposition forces of orchestrating this attack. Trinamool activists have interpreted these actions as an intimidation tactic reminiscent of incidents from 2019, asserting their resolve against suppression.
Further incidents were reported in Bhatpara, where a bomb exploded near the residence of Priyanku Pandey, the election agent for BJP candidate Arjun Singh. This event also took place under the cover of night, raising tensions in the area as the vote counting approaches. Local law enforcement has collected CCTV footage from the scene but had not made any arrests related to the bombings as of Sunday morning.
The incidents have been documented and footage has been submitted to both the district leadership and police in an effort to address and mitigate the violence. The events underscore the heightened political tensions in the state, with both incidents sparking fears of escalating violence in the lead-up to the vote count.
