NYC Mayor Adams Corruption Probe Update

Federal Investigation Targets NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Campaign Fundraising and Alleged Misconduct

Federal prosecutors are scrutinizing New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ political fundraising, focusing on potentially illegal campaign donations, free flight upgrades, and allegations of pressuring the FDNY to approve the Turkish government’s consulate despite safety issues. The FBI has raided homes of Adams’ confidants and seized his electronic devices. A grand jury is reviewing evidence.
Adams, elected in 2021, denies wrongdoing and emphasizes cooperation. Investigators are probing possible foreign money channeled from the Turkish government to Adams’ campaign. Adams reportedly intervened to allow the opening of a Turkish skyscraper in Manhattan, which had failed FDNY safety checks. The FBI seized Adams’ cellphones and iPad during a raid.
Associates linked to Adams, including his top fundraiser, aides, and advisers, have had their homes raided, with some cooperating with investigators. The investigation also examines Adams’ flight upgrades from Turkish Airlines, which were allegedly coordinated with a former executive and an aide.
Adams and his team refer to the investigation as a “review,” a term also used by former Governor Andrew Cuomo during his probe. Adams’ chief counsel has not clarified the terminology used.
