Severe Weather and Heat Advisory for Twin Cities This Weekend

Summary:
Meteorologist Matt Serwe from Minnesota’s Weather Authority provides a Saturday evening forecast for July 13, 2024. A Forecast First Alert remains in effect for severe weather on Saturday night and for heat and humidity on Sunday. Rain and storms have kept temperatures cooler in the Twin Cities, with severe storms expected in southern Minnesota, potentially bringing large hail, strong winds, and possibly a tornado.
Northwest Minnesota is also likely to see severe storms tonight, transitioning from large hail and tornado threats to strong winds. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight for areas from Brainerd to the north and west. The Twin Cities may experience storms after 10 PM, with Western Wisconsin seeing storm chances after midnight.
Sunday will see lower storm chances but higher heat and humidity, with temperatures around 90°F in the Twin Cities and humidity making it feel like 95°F or warmer. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the metro area. Another round of storms is possible late Sunday night into Monday morning, with strong winds and hail likely. After a warm and humid Monday, the rest of the upcoming week will be cooler and more comfortable.
