Yesterday evening in Winona, a shelter-in-place order created confusion due to its unexpected county-wide implementation. Police were searching for 25-year-old Stig Ure, who was suspected of assaulting someone with a sharp object before fleeing. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The order was meant to be localized but inadvertently extended to the entire county, an issue the police acknowledged and plan to address.
Four hours after the assault, a community member reported Ure’s location, spotting him crawling in weeds near the 1100 block of Highway 61. This tip led to Ure’s apprehension.
